VKB partners with other organizations to meet families where they are to get the resources that will stabilize a home. For some, the need may be covering an unplanned expense like a funeral or busted oil tank. For others, its diapers and supplies when a child is added to a family on a fixed income. Creating stable, connected networks of support improves the outcomes for all kids. Together we can keep kids in healthy, stable families who will be able to participate fully in our communities.
Stable Communities Fund
emergency supportIn each region, VKB has established a Stable Communities emergency fund that is accessible through a referral from one of our referral partner organizations. These funds may provide a maximum benefit of $500 per family based on the specific need. All funds will be used for one or more of the following purposes:
- Prevention – keeping kids out of foster care.
- Preparation – providing support for foster/kinship families to take in specific kids, keeping them in our communities.
- Stabilization – Keeping kids in a formal or informal relative/or kinship placement instead of having them enter foster care.
- Reunification - preparing a birth family for the return of a child.
- Respite - supporting retention of foster, kinship and adoptive parents.
- Resilience – support former foster youth to become productive adults.
- Emergency - needs which arise because of an emergency removal from either birth, foster, kinship, or adoptive home.
